Understanding Trust in the Universe
Trust in the universe is more than just a belief in something bigger than ourselves – it's a way of life. But what exactly does it mean to trust in the universe, and how can we cultivate it in our lives?
At its core, trust in the universe is a deep, unwavering belief that everything happens for a reason, and that we are exactly where we need to be in this moment. It's the understanding that life is not always easy, but that even the tough times have a purpose and a lesson to teach us.
Trust in the universe is about surrendering to the flow of life and letting go of the need to control every outcome.
But here's the thing – trust in the universe is not the same thing as blind faith. It's not about putting all our hopes and dreams into something without any evidence or reason to back it up. Trust in the universe is a deliberate choice and faith in a higher purpose at work in our lives, even when we can't see it.
It's also important to recognize that there are common misconceptions about trust in the universe. Some people may view it as a form of escapism or a way to avoid taking responsibility for their lives. However, nothing could be further from the truth. Trust in the universe is about taking ownership of our lives and recognizing that we have the power to create the life we want. It's about seeing challenges as opportunities for growth and embracing the journey, no matter where it takes us.
In the next section, we'll explore the benefits of trust in the universe and how it can transform your life in powerful ways.
The Benefits of Trust
Now that we've explored what trust in the universe is and why it's important, let's dive into how trust benefits us. It turns out that trusting in something greater than ourselves has amazing mental and physical benefits.
For starters, research has shown that trust is an antidote to stress and anxiety. When we trust, feel safe and supported, and believe that things will work out in the end, we're less likely to get caught up in worry and negative thought patterns.
Trusting in the universe can also have a positive impact on decision-making. When we trust that the universe has our back, we're more likely to make decisions that align with our values and long-term goals. This is because we're less likely to get bogged down in fear and doubt, and more likely to take calculated risks that can lead to growth and success.
But the benefits of trust don't stop there. Research has also shown that trust is associated with a range of physical health benefits, including lower blood pressure, better sleep, and a stronger immune system. This is because when we trust, our bodies release hormones like oxytocin and endorphins, which promote feelings of well-being and relaxation.
So, if you're looking to reduce stress, improve your health, and make better decisions, cultivating trust in the universe is a wonderful practice. In the next section we'll explore some practical tips for building that trust, further on in the article you’ll find a video about trusting the universe and its timing.
Developing Trust in the Universe
Now that we've explored the benefits of trust in the universe, you might be wondering how to cultivate it in your own life. The good news is that trust is a skill that can be developed with practice. Here are some practical tips to get you started:
- Shift your mindset: Developing trust in the universe requires a shift in mindset from one of fear and doubt to one of faith and hope. Start by replacing negative thoughts with positive affirmations, such as “everything is working out for my highest good” or “I trust that the universe has a plan for me.”
- Practice surrender: Trust in the universe requires surrendering control and letting go of the need to know everything. Practice mindfulness and meditation to help you stay present in the moment and let go of worries about the future.

How to Trust The Universe When Things Go Wrong
Before jumping into overcoming challenges to trust, let's explore how to have faith when you're not feeling it.
Overcoming Challenges to Trust
Developing trust in the universe can be a transformative experience, but it's not always easy. There are many obstacles that can get in the way of our trust, from fear and doubt to external circumstances that feel out of our control. Here are some strategies for navigating these challenges and cultivating trust in the face of uncertainty:
- Recognize your doubts: Trust in the universe doesn't mean we'll never experience doubts or fears. It's important to recognize these feelings when they arise and acknowledge them without judgment. Instead of trying to push them away, see if you can observe them and let them go with compassion.
- Stay grounded in the present moment: When we're anxious or uncertain about the future, it can be helpful to focus on the present moment. Practice mindfulness or other grounding techniques to help you stay centered and calm in the midst of uncertainty.
- Surround yourself with support: Building trust in the universe is not a journey you have to take alone. Seek out supportive friends, family, or community who can help you stay centered and remind you of your inner strength.
- Practice gratitude: Cultivating a sense of gratitude can help shift your mindset from one of scarcity to one of abundance, and from one of fear to one of faith. Make a daily practice of listing three things you're grateful for, no matter how small they may seem.
- Trust yourself: Ultimately, trust in the universe is about trusting yourself and your own inner guidance. Listen to your intuition and follow your heart, even when it feels scary or uncertain. Trust that you have the inner resources to navigate any challenge that comes your way.

Hi. It’s interesting what you wrote on this topic, it does induces some kind of hope, *the Universe supports you* but yet extremely difficult to hold that perspective for a length of time.
Why the Universe seems to be in support of the negative experience, situations, etc, far more faster than the positive?
I’m wondering if the experiences we had growing up impacts the belief, or more so treats you in a kind if way, no matter what you believe . For example, the Child who grows up feeling love & supported, hardly experienced negative experiences growing up will have that energy of being supported surrounding them, opposed to the Child who grows up not loved, unsupported, experiences a lots of trauma, will have that energy around them.
Hi Sara, yes so on-point, that to some degree, our belief in what the world is and our belief about our level of safety and how supported we are, does impact the reality we experience. Albert Einstein famous quote came to mind… ‘The most important decision we make is whether we believe we live in a friendly or hostile universe.’ And at the same time, everyone will face experiences in life that are challenging to varying degrees, no matter their upbringing, that will be difficult and forge us (like diamonds formed under pressure). The challenges of our soul lessons, the challenges of our own making, the challenges life brings up that affect us and others around us (community/global/society). And most definitely if we’ve had a harder road in life, trust in the Universe may not be as strong and “easy” as someone who has had many blessings in their life who has more “evidence” of the support to lean on. Often we want that evidence, and the faith/spiritual path is developing a knowingness about the nature of reality and a connection to that unseen support no matter what shows up, despite the past challenges or perhaps because of those challenges (if hindsight helps us to see any value in those events as bringing us into our wisdom, strength, contribution etc). It’s a BIG topic, and I so appreciate your comment about this. With much love, B
