How to Let Go of the Past

The way you look at things, determines what you see.

What you see, determines how you feel, and ripples into your choices, behaviors and actions.

And all of this is CREATING YOUR LIFE going forward.

That’s why if we don’t release the past, it keeps recreating into our present and future, over and over.

Not because that is destiny. Not because it’s bad luck. But because we are carrying the past with us inside (beliefs, perspectives, emotions, energy) and that is replicating the same pain and challenges.

For you to let go of the past, we need to see things differently. To take a higher perspective.

This is NOT to deny whatever painful or challenging things might have occurred in your past. Quite the opposite.

It is to LOOK directly at your past and choose to see it in the context of the much bigger picture of your life.

Here is a short message that I invite you to consider…

Write down the main things in your past that you have found it difficult to let go of.

Meditate on this, “What IF this was forging me like a diamond, shaping me into the powerful person I really am, for the life I am here to live and what I’m here to do. How might I choose to see this differently now? How might I talk about this past event in light of this? Who do I CHOOSE to be on this basis?”

Your past can define you and follow you around for the rest of your days.
OR your past can shape you, mold you, forge you INTO THE DIAMOND that you truly are.

We never want difficult things to happen in order to be shaped into our potential. We also don’t need difficult things to shape us. But nevertheless, if difficult, painful, challenging things occur, minor or major trauma, only YOU get to say who you are, and what your life going forward will be. And putting your past in context, where you get to write the story and narrative, where you are the VICTOR, gives you back all your power.
